The dance hall is on the second floor, up ~1.5 flights of stairs. There is no elevator to this part of the facility. The dance hall has plenty of seats and gender-inclusive restrooms. Please reach out if we can help with accessibility needs.

This is a space for everyone to feel welcome and loved! We oppose racism, sexism, ableism, ageism, homophobia, transphobia, or any other form of discrimination. Chicagoland English Country Dance

Join us for Chicagoland West English Country Dance (ECD) from 2–5 p.m. at the Glen Ellyn Civic Center. English Country Dance is social and pattern-based, with a caller guiding each dance—similar to Contra and barn dancing. No partner or experience is needed; all figures are walked through before each dance.

We recommend bringing your own water bottle. If you bring snacks to share, we suggest they be bite-sized and easy to eat neatly.

Admission:

To help cover the cost of the hall rental, the suggested donation is $5 per person. If we have live music, we may request $10 per person.

Getting There:

Building Entrance:
The entrance to the gymnasium is at the back of the building. From the front, walk up the left side past the dumpsters to find the double doors. Enter through those doors and go up one flight of stairs, then turn left. An elevator is available for those with accessibility needs.

Parking Information:
You can park in the parking garage on the south side of the facility. (The village enforces parking regulations strictly, so please park in approved spaces.) Use the rear entrance between the parking garage and the garbage dumpsters.

Metra:
The Glen Ellyn Metra stop is a short 5-minute walk from the venue. Currently, a Sunday train (Union Pacific West line) departs Ogilvie at 12:40 p.m. and arrives at 1:25 p.m. Return trains depart at 5:00 p.m. and 7:00 p.m.

Note about Location:

During the summer months, the group dances in Cheryl and David’s driveway in Glenview. Despite the lack of rented space during the summer months, we still ask for the same admission pricing as it helps offset the cost of the rental space Sept-May.

Sept-May the group dances at John’s Park Field House. (2101 Central Road, Glenview, IL 60025).

Live music by the amazing and energetic Cosmic Otters rounds out this super ECD event. This is a dance you will not want to miss. 

  • All dances taught.
  • No partner needed.
  • No special clothing needed, but wear comfortable shoes.
  • Venue has a parking garage and air-conditioning, and is also a short walk from the Glen Ellyn Metra stop.
  • $5-10/person sliding scale admission.

We dance in the Fellowship Hall of Trinity Lutheran Church (201 N. Washington St., Valparaiso, IN).
There is plenty of parking at the Trinity Lutheran Church parking lot behind the church, off of Lafayette St. Enter through the back door off the parking lot. Go down the stairs and to the right for the Fellowship Hall.

Doors open at 6:30.
Masking is optional.

Harvest Moon Dance Weekend 2025

Our ninth Harvest Moon Dance Weekend will be held October 3 – 5, 2025, again at the beautiful Baker Community Center in St. Charles, Illinois. We are pleased to bring back Mara Shea with her inspired fiddling, and to welcome Jonathan Jensen as pianist. After eight years, we are excited to welcome back caller Orly Krasner from New York.

Tentative weekend schedule:

  • Friday welcome dance: 7:30 to 10:00 p.m.
  • Saturday morning workshop: 10:00 to 11:45 a.m.
  • Saturday afternoon workshop: 1:15 to 3:00 p.m.
  • Saturday afternoon ball practice: 3:15 to 4:45 p.m.
    Please attend this free session if you are a newer dancer and coming to the ball!
  • Saturday Harvest Moon Ball: 7:30 to 10:30 p.m.
  • Sunday farewell dance: 11:00 a.m. to 2:00 p.m.
