In order to make sure our space is welcoming and accessible to as much of the community as possible, we’re requiring masks to be worn at the dance.

The dance hall is on the second floor, up ~1.5 flights of stairs. There is no elevator to this part of the facility. The dance hall has plenty of seats and gender-inclusive restrooms. Please reach out if we can help with accessibility needs.

This is a space for everyone to feel welcome and loved! We oppose racism, sexism, ableism, ageism, homophobia, transphobia, or any other form of discrimination. If someone is violating your boundaries or harassing you, please speak to an organizer. If you feel something, say something, and we will take action to address it.

International & English Country Dance with Mady Newfield & Tammy Bretscher @ Grace Lutheran Church

Join us for International Folk Dance & Chicagoland West English Country Dancers (ECD) from 1–6 p.m. at the Grace Lutheran Church in Glen Ellyn. Come for either one or both parts of the afternoon. No partner or experience is needed; all figures are walked through before each dance.

  • International Folk Dance 1-3:15 pm
  • English Country Dance 3:30-6 pm

We recommend bringing your own water bottle. If you bring snacks to share, we suggest they be bite-sized and easy to eat neatly.

Admission:

To help cover the cost of the hall rental, the suggested donation is $5 per person. If we have live music, we may request $10 per person.

Getting There:

Building Entrance:
The entrance to the gymnasium should be accessed from the elevator at the top of the ramped entrance. From the front of the church, walk up the ramp and enter the building. The elevator will be directly on your left. Take the elevator to the second floor and walk through the doors directly across the hall from the elevator.

Parking Information:
You can park in the parking lot if spaces are available, or there is typically street parking available on Pensylvania avenue. A public lot is also available ~1 block east of the chuch.

Metra:
The Glen Ellyn Metra stop is a short 5-minute walk from the venue. Currently, a Sunday train (Union Pacific West line) departs Ogilvie at 11:40 a.m. and arrives at 12:27 p.m. Return trains depart at 5:00 p.m. and 7:00 p.m.

Ladies Banjo Society of Illinois with Devin Pohly @ Irish American Heritage Center - 4th Floor Ballroom

The Ladies Banjo Society of Illinois plays for us tonight, with Devin Pohly calling.  The Banjo Society is Eric Zorn (fiddle), Mary Tabatowski (mandolin), Kathy Hirsh (guitar), Fred Campeau (banjo), Elizabeth Lamberti (fiddle) and Aaron Smith (bass).

We’ll be dancing in the 4th floor ballroom.

Vaccines are not required and masks are optional. Attendance will be registered at all dances for contact tracing.

A Rare Privilege with Steve Pike @ Milwaukee Society of Friends Meeting House

Parking: Do not park on Gordon Place as that is reserved for local residents with permits.
1) Onsite lot (limited to about 15 vehicles.)
2) Vast additional parking is in the adjacent Gaenslen Elementary School parking lot just south of the venue; enter off of E. Auer Ave.

Our callers teach and call with non-gendered terms.  We strive to be welcoming.

Please wear clean, non-marking, soft-soled shoes. Many of us keep a separate pair to change into from street shoes.
